Eat more Superfoods like Buckwheat!

cacao coconut super cereal with fresh fruitThe benefits of Buckwheat are pretty outstanding, buckwheat is thought to be a grain even though it’s not, it’s actually the seed of a broadleaf plant related to rhubarb.  Buckwheat has more protein than rice, millet, wheat or corn and it’s high in the essential amino acids lysine and arginine, in which major cereal crops are deficient of according to oprah.com  I recently came across Emmy’s Super Cereal Cacao Coconut which I purchase at Sprouts, I also believe it’s sold at Whole Foods too. This cereal is loaded with good stuff including organic sprouted buckwheat groats as the main ingredient.  What I love about this stuff is that it’s Non GMO, gluten-free, vegan and raw(so it’s a healthy option for most), as far as the taste…It takes some getting used to if you have never had buckwheat grouts before, the coconut and cacao make it sweet.  I like to eat it with fresh fruit or on top of my Keifer in the place of granola.  It’s something new to consider and  incorporate into your diet if you’re looking to boost a healthy lifestyle.emmy's1
I never want to sound obsessive about food (well mostly not :), thinking about all of the things we are supposed to do and not suppose to is simply exhausting!!!  I just want to be equipped with good solid information and to do the best I can while making decisions about nutrition.  I love to share anything new that I’m learning  (I encourage you to do the same with me) so that together we can live our best lives possible!!!   Life is all about moderation so In those times when I’m enjoying french fries, ice cream, a greasy taco or a glass of wine, I’m obviously not thinking too much about nutrition.. just having a moment and it’s ok.   Enjoying time with my family, friends or myself and trying to keep a balance is what I’m all about.   I’m  learning (by the second it seems at times) that life’s short and who cares about doing everything “right” all of the time especially when it comes to food, do what’s right for you.  Strive towards good nutrition most of the time and be clear about doing the right thing to keep confusion and guilt at bay. Eat This and Enjoy!!
