2016 Hair is all about playful, pretty or edgy chic! There are so many options to choose from this Spring, from the natural soft and pretty to sexy sass and glam! These looks are nothing new, but look very fresh for Spring. The side cornrow braids with long beachy waves are fun, sexy and easy to do , If you want to go bold and are over the side-shave look take it all off with a buzz cut with your natural color, and we can’t forget the super glam Gatsby inspired look and those finger waves so sexy, free and chic!
Natural hair color is making it’s debut and I say hallelujah, giving are locks a much-needed break from all of the color we did in 2015! The cornrow pig tail braids are going strong in popularity for the playful girl in all of us, thanks #Northwest! The fun thing about the hair trends for 2016 is that the looks are very simple feminine & pretty or bad ass J.I. Jane sexy with a fade!
I’m happy to see the versatility in all of the looks, with something for everyone to try and have fun with. Hair is meant to be fun and make a statement about who you are at the moment…So go crazy and luvufearlessly! P.S. Even the fellas are getting in on trends for Spring 2016, and I must say that man bun and side-braid are looking kinda HOT!!, Go head ladies do your man’s hair too!
Fall/Winter Hair, Skin & Body beauty Survival Must haves!
I don’t know about you.. but the change in weather has already taken an effect on my hair, skin and body!! I looked at my face this morning and could see dry patchy skin (yikes)!! As we all know, dry skin especially on the face makes you look tired, dull and dare I say it AGED!! Nothing wrong with growing older because like it or not we are all getting older God willing! Truth be told, I don’t mind! I want to have happy skin that’s hydrated, soft & beautiful to touch with a wonderful glow… no matter my age!
As for my hair I want the same thing.. a strong mane of healthy locks, free from a flaky dry scalp and brittle ends! I learned years ago that over shampooing is a no-no from a co-worker named Dima. Dima grew up in Jordan, she had the most luscious beautiful hair on the planet, It was dark, shiny & gorgeous! Her secret was simple don’t wash your hair everyday once per week is more than enough. I give major props to co-conditioning with Tropical Life Organic Coconut Oilalong with a great shampoo & conditioner combo. Locking in moisture is the key to great hair, my favorite at the moment shampoo & conditioner is made by Blisslabs the Lemon-Sage Supershine shampooand Conditioning rinse available here at luv2shopmycloset. I don’t know exactly what it is that makes this stuff so great?? It just is!! I’m a huge believer in cold press avocado oil.. It’s not a heavy oil, perfect for adding moisture to my face! As far as my skin goes I’m sticking with the things that I know. Honor your skin, body and hair by loving and being good to it..for me avocado oil works!! I’m a big fan of exfoliation, something gentle enough to do a couple of times a week to keep dry skin at bay. I’m in love with TOCCA Esfoliante da corpo Italian Blood Orange body scrub! This stuff is pricy but so worth it… it feels good and the smell is unforgettable!!! The final step to take moisture to the next level for the body is by finishing off with (my addiction) a thick African Shea butter!! It’s all about layering people!! Body butters are thick and yummy loaded with nutrient dense benefits to keep the skin well conditioned, glowing and fed! Here’s one of my favorites Om She lemon & grapefruit body butter..so good and it’s sulfate and paraben free! Check out my shop for more body butters!
Good Morning and Happy Tuesday! Have you ever considered the dairy products you consume could be the cause of some of your skin issues? As a former acne sufferer myself, I’m starting to give this discussion some consideration! For the most part I have been able to keep my adult acne under control with the exception of a few hormonal break-outs here and there. I’ve come across studies that suggest dairy could be at the heart of most skin problems and allergies. Since I don’t need any more issues especially when it comes to my skin, I’m going to give this dairy-free thing a try!
For starters just say No to Sun Damage!! I use to lay out in the sun to get that perfect golden brown tanned skin when I was younger. Back then the sun provided 2 things for me, smooth brown skin and a great cover-up for my acne, somehow the sun made it look better. I used no sun protection because I wanted to get tan, the darker I got the better (I think I was obsessed with having darker skin). I started to pay the cost for this around age 38, all of those years of sun bathing and exercising outside w/o sun protection finally caught up to me. I had no idea what hyperpigmentation was until it started to show-up with uneven skin tone and sun damaged skin. Today I still love the sun, that will never change… this time I have armed myself with the proper tools if I’m going to be in the sun. I won’t even leave my house without sunscreen, for everyday use I love Ultra-Sheer dry touch sunscreen by Neutrogena SPF 55. It’s super lightweight not ashy or greasy perfect for my face! If I’m walking or running I uses waterproof sun protection with a higher SPF my fav is (Neutrogena Sport face oil-free lotion SPF 70+) along with a baseball cap for extra coverage and I’m good to go!
As for going dairy-free for better skin that’s a bit more complicated because your girl loves pizza!!! Giving up pizza is a total deal breaker even for better skin.. I’m sorry I just can’t do it! What I have decided to do instead of giving-up pizza completely is to have it occasionally as I work my way through this experiment. When I brought up going dairy-free to my Dermatologist she was not a fan at all!!!…I wonder why? She didn’t feel there was enough concrete evidence to support this theory for better skin. I mean seriously what’s the harm it’s at least worth investigating the difference if there is any at all? As I walked away from the Derm’s office with my RX in tow, I shrugged off her concerns and proceeded with my day. I really want to see if going diary free has a huge impact on my skin. I havent had dairy for a week now, so I’ll keep you updated on my progress as I move through this craziness!! I gave up traditional milk a long time ago so that’s no biggie, I have also replaced what people normally use cheese for like on sandwiches or tacos with avocado so that’s no bigger either but pizza no substitutions for that!!! If you have noticed a complete turn-around with your skin by giving-up dairy please share your experience with me I would love to know how it has gone for you, I’m excited for you to share the outcome! Hey there beautiful you are so beautiful… keep on fearlessly loving U, Have a wonderful day!!!

Oral hygiene is so important! Let’s talk about being orally responsible for you and for the folks around you. Don’t be the one who looks amazing, face beat, beautiful skin, hair and nails with dragon breath…YUCK. Bad breath is such a turn off, and it could be a strong indicator of gum disease or poor overall dental hygiene. I’m a teeth and floss fanatic! I’m so afraid of having bad breath that I have gone completely over board with flossing, mouthwash, breath spray, gum…mints you name it!!! Gum and mints can often be a disguise for bad breath, the bottom line is to take care of your mouth. I was once told by my dental hygienist many years ago, that if I was going to chew gum (which really is not a great ideal) be sure to chew gum or mints with Xylitol. Xylitol has proven dental benefits and it helps stimulate saliva restoring your mouth to a neutral acidity level….crucial for managing bad breath. Most of us don’t do it on a regular basis unless we get something stuck in our teeth..yep I’m talking about floss!! Flossing is so important, it gets the food out from in-between your teeth that can settle and smell!! Gross!!! Bacteria can build-up so easily in your mouth causing bad breath orders that no amount of tic-tacs’ can help… I don’t mean to sound crass about it, but poor oral hygiene can lead to much bigger issues! If you chew gum a lot like me try the Spry brand like the Spry Gems mints Berry $1.74 at the Vitamin Shoppe I purchase them at Sprouts you can usually find in the natural food section of most supermarkets or online. I also use Tom’s Wicked Fresh Natural mouthwash which has Xylitol in it too. Beauty is
Any woman of a particular age like me (fab 40’s) is not too sure how to feel about this trend? I don’t have gray hair just a few stray grays I affectionately call my “stress grays” (Thanks kids..family..life lol!!) I must say I love it tho when a woman has a beautiful natural mane of gorgeous gray hair (white not yellow) it looks so pretty, regal…earned. The new shade of gray if done correctly looks more like the actual color gray, styled youthfully and sharp. I do like the contrast of two-toned gray with dark hair. I was not sure how to feel about this look because it’s a fine line to get this trend correct. The missteps can age you and look a hot mess unfortunately If done incorrectly!! I found these gray lock looks and would love to hear what you think?? This is not a new trend it’s still kind of lingering into fall, so I’m curious to hear what you have to say about it. Do, you love it or want to leave it?? P.S I love all of the looks posted here on this page..these ladies are Smashing it.. they look completely gorgeous!! Would you consider giving this trend a try, Or is the #callmegranny hair only for the young unless you are naturally gray? If you would try or have tried this trend please send me a picture or start a conversation, I would love to hear what you think. Hey there beautiful..You are so Beautiful!
Last Friday I had a much-needed day at the spa which included a body massage, foot spa with hot stones and a pedicure. The thing that I love about going to the spa other than the relaxation of course is the variety of bath & body products that they use, It lifts me up awakening all of my senses. I absolutely love all of the wonderful massage oils, scrubs, washes, lotions and pretty potions!! If I could I would go to the spa every week, but since that’s not an option for me I can always go for doing my mini-spa treatments at home. Beautify your body everyday with Aqua Spa Eucalyptus & Mint Bath and body set with Marine Youth Complex available at here at luv2shopmycloset it’s so fresh, affordable and soothing. This line is so incredible for everyday at home maintenance until you get back to the spa, my other two favorites from the collection are the lavender chamomile, and the citrus ginger. Doing the little things to make yourself feel good is so important. Taking time out to get your hair or nails done, getting a much-needed massage or manicure are the perfect little pick-me ups that keep you alive and make you feel great! Find the time to take care of yourself everyday, make and keep-up beauty rituals that celebrate you… Why?? Because it’s important and the benefits of doing so are amazing and necessary.. besides you are so worth it! Hey there beautiful you are so beautiful!!!
